  Who can go trekking?

trekking1

Everyone can go trekking but it's a good idea to plan your trek according to your level of fitness and experience. This is easy to do as we tailor each holiday pack to suite your requirements. If you have never been to Nepal (or the developing world) then booking a full package with is probably your best option as this includes everything from being picked up at Kathmandu airport and taken to your hotel, to organising all accommodation and services on the trail.

You don't have to be super fit for a Trek in Nepal. The easier treks are less than a week long, and generally have quite short days (less than 5 hours walking). You will enjoy the trek a lot more though if you are fit enough for the trek you intend to do. There is nothing worse than struggling at the end of each day. If you have never hiked for several days at a time, it is probably best to try one of the shorter treks first. It can be quite a shock to have to get up every day for over a week and walk for 8 hours! The more difficult treks involving large ascents to altitude, or crossing of high passes are really only recommended for people who have had some mountain walking experience.

What to Take

At 5000m the air pressure is half that of sea level, with a corresponding reduction in the amount of oxygen. To be able to cope with this lack of oxygen your body starts to create more oxygen carrying red blood cells.
